Baltic Index: Baltic Economic Sentiment Report Starts
Andmemasin is happy to present the simple report covering the economic sentiment index and consumer confidence in the Baltics.
What is the data we use?
The economic sentiment index is calculated by European Commission based on monthly national data of each EU member state. The data inside each state is collected by research institutions (eg EKI in Estonia) via sample surveys.
Why a new report?
Since a lot of international companies are looking Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania as one region (The Baltics) a comparative view of the three countries’ data is often needed.
The European Commission data on the economic sentiment data is publicly free to use for anyone. Since the data is originally in a rather raw format – it needs a small touch of design to effectively present what the business leaders in specific region need.
Andmemasin has done that and is reporting simple graphs of the main economic indicators side-by-side for all three Baltic countries as well as EU average index for comparison purposes.

The indicators:
The report covers the overall Economic Sentiment Index as well as the five sub-indexes that the main index is composed of. The five sub-indexes cover the following areas:
- Industrial confidence – gives 40% of the overall index (weight 40%);
- Services confidence (weight 30%);
- Consumer confidence (weight 20%);
- Retail trade confidence (weight 5%);
- Construction confidence (weight 5%).
When the reports will be scheduled?
The European Commission collects and reports the data on a monthly schedule. Usually the data update is done at the end of each month here. Andmemasin is monitoring the updates regularly and will be reporting the Baltic regional view of the main results also on a regular base. Since this a free report we will not make any promises at this point – but we will try to update this also on a monthly base
.
How can I get regular the updates?
I am planning to note the updates via this blog so one way to keep track of the changes is to follow the blog posts via the general RSS link.
